South Boston Fire - EMS
Our fleet consists of:

Unit 103
1995 KME Custom Pumper that carries 1000 gallons of water and is equipped with basic firefighting tools such as axes, flashlights, air packs, and a Cairns thermal imaging camera. There are also four hose crosslays, three of which carry 1 3/4" fire hose and one carries 1 1/2" fire hose. There is also 1 1/2" hose line located on the bumper trash line. Supply lines include 1000' of 5" hose and 1000' of 3" hose and 150' of 2 1/2" pre-connect.

Unit 104
2002 KME Custom Pumper that carries 1000 gallons of water and is equipped with basic firefighting tools such as axes, flashlights, air packs, and a Cairns thermal imaging camera. Unit 106
2005 International Salvage Truck that carries an assortment of firefighting equipment as well as hazmat and rope rescue equipment. It carries 6 airpacks and 18 spare cylinders. Also has a toolbox with assortment of tools to assist with different situations. Equipped with 4 portable radios. Carries two positive pressure fans, one negative pressure fan, two Cuttersedge ventilation saws and one Cuttersedge rotary saw, and two saw-zalls. Also included is an assortment of shovels, brooms, squeegees, salvage covers, water vacuum and other assorted clean up equipment. There is also an assortment of basic hazmat equipment such as booms, and absorption pads; which are used to stop the flow of a hazardous material in a location such as a drain. Sta-dry and extra foam are also carried on this truck.

Unit 107
1999 Chevrolet Cheyenne Forestry Unit. This unit carries 250 gallons of water. This truck is used to go in places where the larger pumpers can not go, such as forest fires. There are two Scotty foam packs with class A foam, two indian packs, a chain saw, a leaf blower, and four rakes. There are two pre-connected 1" forestry hoses, one that is 200' and one that is 250'.

Unit 110
1995 Ford F-Super Duty Emergency Response Unit which responds to all motor vehicle accidents, EMS calls, and most fires. It is equipped with a full compartment of EMS supplies. This truck is equipped with a Amkus rescue system. This system includes (1) cutter, (1) spreader, (1) combi-tool, and (2) rams. There are (2) portable power units with an assortment of hoses which enable us to take the tools to situations where the truck can not go. There are also stabilizing struts which are used to stabilize a car on it's side or upside down. There is also an assortment of cribbing and hand tools such as axes, halagan tools, sledge hammer, flash lights, and two portable radios.

Ladder 10
The South Boston Fire Department also houses Ladder 10. Ladder 10 is owned by the Halifax County Fire Commission and is a 2002 KME 100' Aerial Ladder Truck. It is operated and manned by not only South Boston Fire-EMS, but by the county Ladder Team, a group of specially trained firefighters from each of the twelve fire departments in Halifax County.
